The
island of Praslin embodies some of the best features
of Seychelles with such well preserved treasures as
the Vallée de Mai. The harmonious landscapes
of Praslin have influenced the character of its people,
who are known for their kindness and hospitality.
Praslin
is the only place in the world where the famous coco-de-mer
is grown.
Everything
has been done to avoid harming the environment, right
down to the size of vehicles that are allowed to use
the island's network of small but attractive winding
roads.
When
it comes to tourism, Praslin has two main priorities:
to welcome visitors and to remain the 'Pearl of the
Indian Ocean'.
The
Britannia Hotel and Restaurant, built in the early days
of Seychelles tourism, owes its name to the island's
colonial past. Fully upgraded and renovated in 2003,
the hotel has a large swimming pool where guests can
relax with a rum punch after a day spent visiting the
beautiful islands.
Located
at Grand Anse, the Britannia Hotel is a perfect compromise
between the convivial atmosphere of a 'hôtel de
charme' and the quality service of a top restaurant.
The
Britannia Hotel is an ideal place from which to explore
Praslin, meet its people and discover the island's many
beautiful beaches.
The
hotel has are five standard rooms with ventilators and
seven superior air conditioned rooms with mini-bar and
TV located in several bungalows.
Retaining
the culinary skills of a by-gone age, the hotel's famous
restaurant serves both Creole and international cuisine.
The
Britannia Hotel is an ideal starting place for hiking
trips as well as for excursions to the neighbouring
islands of La Digue, Cousin, Aride and Curieuse.
There
are free transfers from the hotel to all diving centres
and to all excursions from Praslin.
